Mariann Powell is a policy analyst at FOCUS, a Leonine Business, tracking legislative and regulatory issues with a specific focus on housing, water contamination and health practices across the country. A Wolfeboro, New Hampshire native, she attended the University of New Hampshire, graduating in 2011 with a B.A. in Political Science and minors in Spanish and Early American History. Mariann also received her Master’s in Public Health in 2015 from UNH while simultaneously working on health care-related issues as Director of Citizen Services for then-governor Margaret Wood Hassan.
Prior to joining FOCUS, she was responsible for designing and implementing substance abuse programs for the Vermont Department of Health as their Substance Abuse Program Manager. Her professional experience also includes work on congressional campaigns, non-profit public affairs and lobbying.
In her free time, Mariann enjoys hiking, reading, crafting and traveling. She lives in Burlington, Vermont with her wife Rachael and their dog Wallace.
